Why Heat Pumps?
The Benefits of Heat Pumps
Heat pumps, sometimes referred to as mini splits, are similar to any other appliance you may own in your home. The term mini split refers to how the appliance is divided into two sections, but as one unit, it can provide both a heating and cooling function. While a heat pump may not be the only source of heat you have in a home, it can generally provide the majority of all your heating and cooling needs. Probably one of the best benefits of a heat pump is that is can provide the heating and cooling for your home for less money, most of the time, than with other more conventional ways.
Comfort and Convenience
One of the things many customers enjoy about heat pumps, is their ability to cool or heat quickly. Whenever you want to either heat or cool your living space quickly, the mini split has the ability to do that, especially using one of Fujitsu's high wall indoor units. Another option on some of our units is the fact that they come with wifi capabilities. So, if it’s a hot day, you are on your way home and wish to have the house cool when you go inside, we can do that with the help of an app for your smart phone. And of course, the same can be done with heating. When using the AC function, there is no mess or container to empty from the condensation that is taken out of the air. It is drained right outside. You can also dehumidify without running the AC.
Eco-Friendly and Improve Air Quality
Heat pumps do not create smoke or add any fumes to the air. In addition to circulating the air in the room, the filters clean and purify the air, taking out dust, mold spores, odors, smoke and other particles that might be in the air. Those with allergies and/or asthma absolutely benefits when using a mini split system. There are no carbon emissions as there is no fuel burning like in a wood stove. The amount of electricity used to produce heating and cooling is a small amount. They are one of the most energy efficient products on the market today.
Safe and Add Value to Your Home
The mini-split heat pumps systems are incredibly safe. They can be left on for long durations without concern and do not pose any immediate hazards, such as hot surfaces which could burn a child or cause a fire. Due to the safe and efficient nature of these systems, they can add great value to your home, whether enjoying their benefits in your current living space or receiving added value when selling your home.
How Do Heat Pumps Work In Maine?
Heat Pumps in Maine work just the same and just as well as heat pumps in any other location. Heat pumps are essentially the same technology as more familiar appliances, such as a refrigerator or an air conditioner, but in this case there is an indoor as well as outdoor component. To put it simply, heat pumps are an electrical device that allows you to transfer heat energy from one area to another.
Heat pumps are able to transfer energy when circulating a substance called, refrigerant, through a cycle of evaporation and condensation. The refrigerant is pumped between two heat exchanger coils by a compressor, allowing the refrigerant to absorb heat from its surroundings when evaporated at a low pressure. The refrigerant then becomes compressed when traveling to the other coil where it condenses under high pressure, and then is able to release the heat acquired in the earlier cycle.
Unlike a refrigerator or air conditioner, which are examples of a heat pump operating in only their cooling mode, heat pumps like the mini-splits produced by Fujitsu can provide your home with year-round climate control. You will be able to heat your home and make it cozy during the long Maine winters and cool it down during some of those hot and humid summer days.
